What first started out as the central theme for a movie over 30 years ago, is now a staple on the Queensland event calendar and an iconic Aussie sporting event.
The Coolangatta Gold is one of the most challenging endurance races in surf sports and offers two formats, long course and short course.
Last year more than 800 competitors took part in the weekend’s events. Ironman Ali Day achieved a record breaking sixth title and in the women’s division, Georgia Miller, claimed her maiden win.
Coolangatta Gold Long Course:
This is the ultimate challenge and is designed for the endurance surf sport competitor. Participants cover a massive 41.8km from Coolangatta to Broadbeach.

Entrants can compete as an individual U19 to 50+ or as part of a team.
Coolangatta Gold Short Course:
This event has been designed for the everyday endurance athlete and covers a 21km course arriving in and out of Coolangatta Beach.
