Managed by the Queensland Environmental Protection Agency, The David Fleay Wildlife Park has the goal to be the premiere wildlife education facility of Australia. Its focus is on research and education on threatened species.
The Park recovers Queensland’s threatened species by breeding animals prior to them being released in the wild.
David Fleay Wildlife Park allows visitors to see the wildlife of Australia in natural habitat enclosures. Witness Pebbles the popular platypus in its Nocturnal House, get a thrill during the salt-water crocodile feeding. Watch cassowaries, koalas, dingoes and Lumholtz’s tree kangaroos.
Trip Advisor Contributor “helen S” visited the Park with her grandchildren and describes the experience as “..good value.”
“We were visiting the Gold Coast to see our grandchildren and decided to take out the annual pass. Even if we only go back once when we are next there, it is still good value.

The park is a great asset in terms of protecting some of our endangered species. David Fleay left an amazing legacy from his conservation work. The staff were well informed and friendly. Highlight was seeing Pebbles, the platypus.”
Trip Advisor Senior Reviewer “KaylynGoldCoast” saw “..great attractions” in the Park and “..had a great time.”
“I took two boys aged 5 & 6 to Fleays. We were there for 2.5 hours and had a great time. The park is a real adventure and laid out really well and it is also wheel-chair friendly. The boys had a great day and want to go back. So I am taking them to be up and close with snakes and reptiles next time, this show starts at 1330. The staff were very friendly and great with the boys who made discoveries at every turn. I found the park very clean and the layout was excellent, just large enough for inquisitive boys. A really interesting place to visit.”
However, Trip Advisor Top Contributor “chantal_dunbar” finds the park needing a makeover.
“When will some money be invested in bringing this place up to scratch. It is simply not competitive nor compelling for visitors or local families. Very sad.”
Trip Advisor Senior Contributor “eileen r” describes the Park “Overpriced and depressing.”
“Why go here when you can go to Dreamworld and see the wildlife? No, for the cost and what is there I would not go back. It is a very glum place.”
